The first six Dungeons have visible entrances, but the remaining three are hidden. Dungeons also conceal useful items, such as a Boomerang for retrieving items and stunning Enemies and a Flute with magical properties. Link must successfully navigate each Dungeon to obtain one of the eight pieces of the Triforce of Wisdom. Each Dungeon is a unique, maze-like collection of rooms connected by doors and secret passages and guarded by monsters different from those found on the Overworld. The game itself introduces a new level of gaming, one that includes roleplaying, action, adventure, and puzzle/logic.īarring Link's progress are Creatures he must battle to locate the entrances to nine underground Dungeons. There in order to free the spirit of the Champions (Mipha, Daruk, Revali and Urbosa) he must defeat the corresponding 4 brights, that killed the 4 Champions long ago. He must then go to the people, the 4 Champions belonged to, and into the four Titans, great machines which was controlled by the Champions. Shortly after that the spirit of the King of Hyrule tells Link what happened before and during his sleep. After an 100 year sleep, Links awoke with no memories of what happened 100 years ago. Link was also badly wounded, while protecting Princess Zelda from Guardiens, and put into the Shrine of Life by Zelda. 100 years before the main events of the game, the Calamity Ganon returned, controlled the Guardiens and indirectly killed the legendary four Champions as well the King of Hyrule.
